TOURNAMENT OF NATIONS
The Tournament of Nations (TON) celebrates the rich cultural interconnectedness of our regions while raising funds for our “UABL Lion Horizon” youth initiative. As the premier celebration of Pan-Africanism, TON fosters community spirit through musical performances, local vendors, traditional dancers, and wellness initiatives. The centerpiece of the event is a single-elimination basketball tournament featuring teams from various countries—our very own World Cup of Basketball.
We invite families to experience the finest in Diaspora cuisine and entertainment, all while supporting a worthy cause as nations come together in friendly competition.
The United African Basketball League (UABL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit rooted in Pan-Africanism, dedicated to uniting and uplifting our community through youth advocacy and wellness initiatives. Basketball is our tool for community assistance both on and off the court.
Our organization values both players and patrons, extending our service beyond basketball. Our initiatives include youth camps, financial literacy programs, health and wellness campaigns, networking events, and scholarship funds.
ABOUT UABL
MISSION
UABL's mission is to empower underserved Pan-African youth both on and off the court, leveling the "playing court." Through investing in their basketball passion and providing resources, we aim to reduce disproportionate incarceration rates in our communities.
VISION
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization promoting holistic development for black and brown youth in underserved communities, focusing on athletic, professional, and personal growth.
UABL Youth Initiative: LION HORIZON
UABL Youth Initiate uses sport as a vehicle to cultivate leadership skills, improve physical and mental wellness, develop technical skills, and provide access to resources for the betterment of children on and off the court.
The United African Basketball League (UABL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to uniting and uplifting our community through youth advocacy, wellness, and cultural celebration. Basketball is our vehicle.
A FREE youth sport program that uses athletics as a vehicle to mentor youth with leadership and cultural competency. HRYZN stands for Helping Rising Youth Zone into Nobility.
Unlike traditional youth sports programs, UABL integrates sport training with critical life skills — mental wellness workshops, NIL/financial literacy education, S.T.E.A.M., and cybersecurity. Youth don't just learn how to play — they discover how the game is built.
Standard Curriculum
Weekly sessions blending structured sport with leadership workshops, goal-setting, discipline, and transferable skills.
Tailored Curriculum
Schools contact us directly. Customized programming — afterschool, in-class modules, or extended camps.
League Finals moved from afternoons to evenings — creating 'Sunday Night Lights.' Packed gyms and families cheering together revealed UABL was bigger than basketball.
COVID halted physical events but not the mission. UABL formalized as a non-profit and launched an NBA 2K Tournament to keep community connected through the pandemic.
Virtual Financial Literacy Symposium launched — experts sharing insights on spending and investing. A speaker's following tuned in, driving record donations and national visibility.
TON launched in Ellicott City, MD. Jamaica defeated Nigeria in the Finals. A cultural takeover was born — country pride, community spirit, and a vision that would grow far beyond expectations.
Youth programming launched with Under Armour and Jr. NBA partnerships. UABL became DMV Charter for 'Building Bridges Through Basketball.' Sierra Leone wins TON23 in a thrilling final.
TON moved to the iconic DC Bullpen across from Nationals Park. UABL selected as Render ATL community partner. Sierra Leone wins back-to-back. 1,000+ attendees in a single day.
TON25 headlined by globally touring DJ duo 2woBunnies. Liberia claims the crown for the first time. 71,000+ digital reach. 98.7% non-follower audience. National momentum.
